What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, often times referred to as "BJJ", is a grappling-based martial art with a predominant focus on ground fighting. The objective in the art of BJJ is to control an opponent and force them to submit without using any strikes such as punches, elbows, kicks, etc. In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, students will learn how to takedown, control, and submit an opponent using joint locks and chokeholds. This is accomplished through using proper technique and leverage instead of brute strength. BJJ proves that through proper technique, a smaller opponent is able to neutralize and defeat much larger opponents, making BJJ a very practical self-defense martial art for both men and women of all sizes!

Team Link Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Team Link Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is for all levels of experience. Whether this is your first time ever stepping on the mat, or you've been training for years, our coaches are here to make sure you have the best experience possible.
For our adult classes, we run two BJJ classes in a row. Students may attend one or both classes. The first class is our technique class. We begin this class with stretching and warming up. For our warmup, we practice "solo drilling". These are drills you can do by yourself that are specific to the art of BJJ and will help get your body and mind ready for the rest of the class. The remainder of this class will be drilling the techniques of the day with a partner. This class is for all experience levels however it is designed with beginners in mind. This class will get you familiar and comfortable with the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
The second class is our BJJ "sparring" class. We also call this "rolling". For 1 hour we pair everybody and spar for five minutes at a time. It is not mandatory to spar for the entire hour. Many people take breaks throughout the class. Men and women of all skill levels train with each other in these classes. This is an opportunity to take the moves we have learned in the first class and apply them to a resisting opponent.
